Dark Screams Volume Four, by assorted authors
Dark Screams Volume Four, by assorted authors was received direct from the publisher in exchange for this review. The Dark Screams series is a treat each and every episode that comes out. Volume 4 is no different, with each story being able to stand alone. That is not saying each is a five star event but this episode is one of the higher ranked ones. I will not go into each story in very much detail at all, other reviewers have done that, but I will give a short note I took as I read each story in this episode of Dark Screams: The Departed by Clive Barker is about a recently deceased mothers’s last chance to touch her son; The New War by Lisa Morton is about a veteran dying in a nursing home; Sammy Comes Home by Ray Garton is about a neighborhood’s missing animals coming home with a THING (intentionally capitalized) growing in them; The Brasher Girl by Ed Gorman is at first a story of young love. It was the longest story and was my favorite from this episode, except, like others I didn't like the ending; lastly there was Creature Feature by Heather Graham which was interesting and a horror story but my note said “how did it get in this book?” If you like short horror stories that are at the right price, or you are familiar with this series, definitely buy or continue to buy this series.
