Below the Water Line by Lisa Karlin

Below the Water Line: Getting Out, Going Back, and Moving Forward in the Decade After Hurricane Katrina by Lisa Karlin was received direct from the publisher in exchange for this review. Lisa covers Hurricane Katrina from day one, receiving word that a hurricane may hit New Orleand by a family in New Orleans, to day 268, written day by day from her well kept journal. No one not having experienced a hurricane can even imagine the enormous power of a weather event such as this, even if you are far away from the center of the storm. Lisa further writes about follow up hurricane Rita and then hurricane Gustav, none of which forced them to move from New Orleans, LA. While I have never lived there NOLA is in my blood, only to visit though. If you know about Katrina only from the news, buy this book to gain a much larger understanding of such an event.
