Broad Influence by Jay Newton-Small

Broad Influence by Jay Newton-Small was received direct from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. As I saw this book title and requested the book, I had no idea who the author was or who she worked for. I should maybe have paid attention to that as when I started reading and saw she was an employee of Time magazine and Time Inc Books was the publisher, I knew I was in for a rough ride. As least I was not expecting much form the magazine that has mostly killed itself off by embracing the left while the largest part of the country (except the media who is also dying the same death as Time magazine), gets as far away from the “left” as they can. I found the author to be an ideologue and I am not sure if she thinks she is factual or she knows better but writes what she writes anyway. The author “interviewed” women in power and from those conversations and her blind allegiance to the progressive thought processes. Amazingly, almost all of the “empowered women,” interviewed or mentioned mentioned in this book are progressive democrats, of which I can think of no role models people can tell their daughters to emulate. The book taught me nothing about women progressing or changing the way America works, which I hoped it would. Its byline should have been "yet no triumph can go forward without a man trying to take credit for it".

2 Stars

When I review a book, it is actually HARDER to receive TWO Stars than to receive FIVE Stars because to get less than three, I must feel the author is disingenious or a liar, thus the only books receiving less than three stars was a book blaming the Hussein economy on Bush (yeah still trying that) and a book by an alleged southern preacher geting his relgions all messed up and then attacking every reviewer who told him he was full of "it."
