Interview to be posted on December 8th, 2015
Synopsis for My Father's Son: The new book, My Father’s Son, takes an insider’s look at the families of Navy SEALs. What makes them tough, legendary and united is demonstrated in this heartfelt book by author Andy Symonds. Based on his personal experience as the son of a career Navy officer and working closely with a retired Navy SEAL, My Father’s Son shares the story of Nate, a young boy whose father is killed during a Navy SEAL mission.
Embraced by his father’s fellow SEALs, Nate struggles with the normal adolescent angst while living under the shadow of his father heroism. At times funny, and other times almost painfully heart-wrenching, My Father’s Son touches on such contemporary subjects as PTSD, survivor’s guilt, growing up too fast and the sacrifices made by military families.
Biography: Andy Symonds grew up in a military family and moved every two to three years to bases all over the world. He wrote his first novel when he was 10 years old and has been writing ever since. He has written hundreds of newspapers articles, scripts, short stories, and poems. My Father’s Son is his debut novel and has been endorsed by the Special Operations community.
