My Holiday in North Korea by Wendy E. Simmons

My Holiday in North Korea by Wendy E. Simmons was received direct from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, I was quite impressed with this author, with excellent writing from the first sentence, not stodgy and boring as I assume North Korea is and feared the book would be. I have to say, I didn't even know there were "tourists" in North Korea . The book follows the authors 10 day "vacation," in the country, and her limited interactions with normal folk and their interactions with her, "Is it because I am a MILF?." DISCUSSIONS abounded as the Wendy visits the hermit kingdom and, believe it or not, things felt just a bit odd/staged as if "you are on a permanent first date" with the country. Could have told me some of what occurred to get the visa but lovely book and I recommend it to anyone who likes travel comedy and/or wants to learn more and see some photographs of the elusive country that threatens us each day it seems. 4 Stars
