The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy by Val D. Greenwood

The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy by Val D. Greenwood is the de-facto "go to"book on researching your family tree. I would wager to say that most every American has an interest in researching their "roots." The problem is, most of us do not have a clue on how to go about doing this. With the advent of the research sites on the internet, it has gotten easier, BUT those sites are overly expensive and out of reach for most of us. This book, the first update since the year 2000, shows how anyone can ease themselves into genealogy using churches, libraries, relatives, the Internet and methods I had not even thought of.

I am not a historian and as far as genealogy, I wold consider myself as mid-level, doing 90% of it from the internet. With this book, if I choose, I can move up and find more information than I ever thought necessary about my family tree. I actually have gone back as far as the Plantagenet's in the British Royalty and found family members there, using this book.

If you, or anyone you know is interested in their family tree (and if you get another family member interested, they will do the work for YOU), buy this book. This is one book that a hard copy is definitely the way to go, as well.
