A History of the Ozarks, Volume 3, by Brooks Blevins
A History of the Ozarks, Volume 3, by Brooks Blevins was received directly from the publisher and I chose to review it. This is the third of a series of books about the Ozark Mountain region of northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri. I grew up in that region so I immediately accepted the offer to read and review it. The book covers a lot of topics over the last 150 years or so, such as the importance of trains in the area, the different kinds of crops grown and carried by those trains. As well as timber exploitation, mining's importance to the region and even amusement parks in the area. The small town I grew up in, with less than 500 people was even mentioned in the book. If you, or someone you buy books for is interested in the Ozark Mountain region or simply American history in general, get this book and read it.
4 Stars
For those in the know, this book is the region many of my novellas take place in, such as the classic IBRNSOB. While my stories are fiction, if you like the region, you should give them a read also.
