Chasing Alexander A Marine's Journey Across Iraq and Afghanistan by Christopher Martin was received directly from the publisher and I chose to write a review. I am writing this review several days after the disastrous “withdrawal” from Afghanistan in August 2021. Having served in the country myself, I have every right to call the withdrawal a disaster. I am glad this book was written not by an aspiring politician or a fobbit who spent way too much time while “deployed” not ever leaving the wire. This book made me feel like I was in action with the author though I was there in the era when it was entirely possible Usama Bin Laden and his personnel were still running around the country. If you or someone you buy gifts for want to know the “real deal” about modern warfare or you were there and need some reminders of what you and others experienced, certainly give this book a read.
