Goebbels: A Biography by Peter Longerich
Goebbels: A Biography by Peter Longerich was received direct from the publisher in exchange for this review. Wow, what a long book this was (about 1000 pages but 35-40% was bibliography from a WELL researched book). I went into this knowing some about Joseph Goebbels, knowing that he was Hitlers version of Saddam Husseins “Baghdad Bob,” i.e the leaders press guy “move along folks, nothing to see here.” I came out knowing more than I ever wanted to know about this element of Hitler’s Third Reich. If you, or someone you know is interested in this era of history (I am because I was stationed in Berlin, Germany while the “Wall” was still up), or you know a college student who is writing a paper on WW2 or Goebbels in particular (do modern college students write reports anymore?), then this is definitely the book for you. If you do not particularly want very indepth knowledge of this man, maybe find a smaller book.
