The Confessions of St Zachary by Gene O'Neill
The Confessions of St Zachary by Gene O'Neill was received direct from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I must admit, I was expecting much more from this book based upon the reviews from the first release. This book is a re-release of a novella that is now novel length. The first go around(2008 I believe), I never heard of the novella nor the author until receiving this eight years later. The book is a post apocalyptic, post nuclear attack scenario. The book, in my opinion, examines mankind, in that has it lost its way to its own aggressiveness or is their hope for us as a species. Further, is this topic too subjective anyway? A person has to explore do we want to be a weak "hippie" commune society, like say Europe in early 2016, or do we want to be a relatively secure overly authoritative society, such as maybe Russia in this same time frame? Anyway the story ends the importance of education and rational thinking.
